Privacy Policy — Simple Scan

Last updated: 13 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Simple Scan mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles information. By using the App you agree to this policy.

1. Documents you scan stay on your device

Scanning, image processing, PDF generation and optical character recognition (OCR) are performed entirely on your device using Google's ML Kit running locally. Your scanned images, the PDFs you create, their file names and any recognized text are stored only in the App's private storage on your device. We do not upload, transmit, collect, or have any access to your scanned documents or their contents.

2. We do not require an account

The App has no sign-up and no user account. We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or contacts.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google and its partners may collect and process certain information, which may include device and advertising identifiers, IP address (which may be used to infer approximate, coarse location), and information about your interactions with ads and the App. This data is processed by Google as described in its policies. We do not control and cannot access the data Google collects for advertising.

4. Consent (EU/EEA/UK)

Where required, on first launch the App presents a consent request using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) so you can choose how your data is used for advertising. You can change your choices later from the consent options provided in the App.

5. Permissions

The App requests Internet and network-state access. These are used only by the advertising component; they are not used to transmit your scanned documents.

6. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

7. Data retention and deletion

Because your documents are stored locally, you control them: delete any scan inside the App, or uninstall the App to remove all of its locally stored data from your device. For advertising data held by Google, see Google's policy linked above and your device's ad settings.

8. Security

Documents remain in the App's private storage. You may enable an optional fingerprint/PIN lock in Settings. Advertising network traffic is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
